A Homegrown Love Story
This Roan Mountain elopement was an absolute dream. About a year ago, my friend Katy told me she had given my name to a sweet bride and to watch for her inquiry. Sure enough, shortly after that I got an inquiry from Caitlin!
They also both work in the medical field and knew that a lot of brides and grooms had had a stressful time planning bigger weddings around Covid and they wanted to avoid that stress.
We set a time to talk on the phone and we just clicked! Funny enough, Caitlin and Jeremy were not actually engaged at that point… now most people would think that was nuts but I didn’t because Mike and I were not engaged when I booked our wedding photographer! We talked about how we wanted our relationships to be centered around Jesus and how we didn’t want to get distracted with planning a huge wedding and not prepare for marriage. It was such an encouraging sweet conversation that felt like talking to a friend!
Caitlin and Jeremy live in Birmingham so an added bonus was that I had a wedding booked there in March so we got to do their engagement session on that trip!
So on to the big day at Roan Mountain! Mike and I met up with Caitlin, Jeremy, and their friend Chris (who had come up to marry them) at the cutest little cabin. We photographed the details then all loaded up the cars to head up the mountain! It was the most beautiful May afternoon for a hike up Roan Mountain. Once we got to the top Caitlin popped up a little tent so they could take turns changing into their wedding attire. They both made sure not to peak until their First Look a few minutes later! And guys, let me just say that Caitlin radiated so much joy and Jeremy was so excited to see his bride! It was the most beautiful, God-honoring wedding day! I got so chocked up during their vows.
Before heading down the mountain we all cerebrated with pizza, mac and cheese, bubbly, and cake! And of course we took a zillion photos because the sunset was just incredible!
Now I’ll let you all see some of my very favorite photos and their video!
